Intro
In this module we are going to talk about Velocity Based Training (VBT) and its advanced training applications.
By definition Velocity Based Training (VBT) “is simply a method of training which uses a piece of technology to track the speed of an exercise.”
VBT at its core is a load management system that uses the velocity of a movement to prescribe load. We will get to this further in our second unit “Integrating Technology (Load Management Systems)”.
To understand VBT we first need to understand what makes VBT different from other types of training philosophies. VBT takes an advanced approach utilizing objective data to determine proper training protocols.
Athletes in the game today are often grossly over or undertrained. Over or under training an athlete can not only place that athlete in a position to under perform but can also fatigue an athlete placing them at greater risk of injury.
Throughout this module we will discuss the proper implementation via VBT to assure the highest translation to increased on field athletic performance.
